My name is Mark Strickland and I am the owner/trainer for Marsh Dog Kennels located in Giddings, Texas. I trained upland bird dogs and retrievers from 1989 through 2000 when my full-time job at a chemical plant and kids became too demanding and I could not give the amount of attention that I needed to training. After the chemical plant, I worked for a company for twenty-two years that operates a waterfowl club where I guided waterfowl and deer hunts. With the passion that I had with working with dogs, there has finally become a point in my life where I could get back to what I enjoyed doing and that is training retrievers. So, I reopened my kennels and started training again.
I personally do all the hands-on training from obedience to a master hunter level on a fifty-acre piece of land. The property has three buildings with kennels. The newest kennel is fully enclosed and has AC and heat, there are 20 kennels in it. The second set of kennels is covered and has 24 kennels, it also has an attached enclosed boarding room with AC and heat and 12 kennels. The third set of kennels is parcially enclosed with 23 kennels. All kennels are cleaned several times a day or as needed. I have three employees, two of them train dogs and one is a kennel tech and bird throwers.
I am a member of HRC (Hunters Retriever Club) and I also run AKC (American Kennel Club) hunt test.
